The UAE has temporarily banned the import of poultry products from East Malaysia following a bird flu outbreak.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) announced the decision following reports of a contagious strain of the H5N1 virus.
The import of all species of domestic and wild live birds, poultry meat, non-heat-treated byproducts and table eggs from the state of Sabah and Sarawak have been placed under the temporary ban.
Poultry products that have been thermally-treated, however, have been cleared for import from all parts of Malaysia.
