An Indian doctor has been honoured for her contribution to healthcare in the UAE.
Dr. Zulekha Daud worked for 50 years in the country, after arriving in 1964, and is thought to be the first female practitioner who worked in the Emirates.
Her work has resulted in the creation of hospitals, medical centres, pharmacies, as well as educational facilities in the UAE and her home country.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recognised her in front of her family during a state visit to India.
