FIRST BATCH OF TICKETS TO KCON 2016 ABU DHABI SOLD OUT; AILEE CONFIRMED TO JOIN CONCERT LINE-UP

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]sia’s leading media and content company CJ E&M has announced that the first round of tickets to KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi, set to take place at du Arena in Abu Dhabi, the UAE on Friday March 25, are all sold out.

The second batch is currently on sale at www.ticketmaster.ae and local Virgin Megastores.

A tremendous amount of attention is being paid to KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi, as it will be the first time that the world’s largest Korean culture convention is held in the Middle East. The convention part of KCON will be open during the day, and it is expected to feature a host of activity that will best represent Korean culture, including K-beauty and K-food.

At night, the atmosphere at du Arena will be heated up by K-pop entertainment, featuring some of the hottest names in the industry, including BTS, who have a large regional fan base, TAEYEON (Girls’ Generation), KYUHYUN (Super Junior), Double S 301, MONSTA X, and SPICA.

Ailee, who’s being dubbed as Korean Beyonce, has just confirmed to join the star-studded line-up as well.

Since its launch in 2012, KCON has travelled to major cities in the US and Japan, and it is now expanding its realm to the Middle East, an emerging market for Hallyu, or the so-called Korean wave.

The Middle East market had been considered to have high barriers for Korean artists to enter. However, with rising popularity of Korean pop culture in recent years, especially the phenomenal growth of fandom for K-pop idols, Korean entertainment industry insiders are hopeful that this will paint a positive image of the country.

“We hope to see KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi serve as a catalyst to spread Korean culture in the Middle East, where the whole world is paying close attention these days for its vast business opportunities,” says CJ E&M Music Division President Ahn Suk Joon.

More information about KCON 2016 Abu Dhabi regarding the concert line-up and ticket sales can be found on the KPOP global platform Mwave (www.mwave.me) from March 11th.
