More than 27,000 units of blood were collected in Dubai during the first six months of this year.
That’s according to the Dubai Blood Donation Centre, which says it welcomed just short of 34,000 donors in the first half of 2018.
Close to 40 per cent of the blood collected was given to the Thalassemia Centre.
Meanwhile, 16 per cent went to Dubai Hospital, 14 per cent to Rashid Hospital, 8 per cent to Latifa Hospital and 3 per cent to Hatta Hospital.
The remaining 21 per cent was given to the private hospitals.
